The 47th Legion was established in 2007 as an offshoot of a Star Wars Galaxies guild from the Chilastra server. By the time of the NGE, interest in SWG had waned, and during a deployment our founder became interested in Tabula Rasa — and chose to start a new player organization with a few SWG guildmates. Thus was born the 47th A.F.S. Expeditionary Force.
The Long Campaign
Around the time of Tabula Rasa’s closure, Earthrise caught the 47th’s interest. We waited over three years and were finally able to step foot on Enterran soil at game launch. Unfortunately, Earthrise was plagued with issues and in June 2011 we moved on.
From there we briefly deployed to Star Wars: The Old Republic, though the game proved to be the antithesis of everything we enjoy in an MMO. A few months later we discovered Defiance — the Trion Worlds and SyFy collaboration — and quickly rose to become the most dominant guild on PC. When Trion’s support waned, we transitioned to multiplayer sandboxes and tactical shooters: Empyrion, Space Engineers, Planetside 2, Firefall, MechWarrior Online, The Division, Elder Scrolls Online, and various ArmA 3 mods.
Today, the 47th continues its eternal campaign across multiple fronts. Our Legionaries are currently deployed across six active theaters of war:
Current Operations
Dune: Awakening — The spice must flow. Our newest major deployment puts us on the sands of Arrakis in this open-world survival MMO. We’re building our power base, controlling spice harvesting operations, and carving out our territory in one of the most anticipated MMOs in years. The desert is unforgiving, but the Legion endures.
Fallout 76 — War never changes, but the wasteland does. The 47th has established a strong presence in post-apocalyptic Appalachia. We run events together, build fortified camps, and survive the nuclear frontier as a unit. There’s something fitting about a military guild thriving in Fallout’s world.
We’re also spreading managed democracy in Helldivers 2, purging xenos in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, holding the line against Xenomorph swarms in Aliens: Fireteam Elite, and commanding armored divisions in War Thunder.
On the horizon, we’re preparing for deployment to Stars Reach — the new sandbox MMO from legendary designer Raph Koster.
Why “Legio Fulminata”?
The historical Legio XII Fulminata — the “Thunderbolt Legion” — was one of Rome’s most storied military units, serving from the late Roman Republic through the Byzantine era. We adopted this legacy as our own, carrying the standards of discipline, loyalty, and excellence into the digital battlefields of the stars.
What We Stand For
The 47th is a military-themed, North American based player association. We pride ourselves on professionalism and esprit de corps — our core principles. We hold our Legionaries to a high standard and prohibit any and all types of exploiting and cheating.

Veterans Welcome
The 47th is an excellent environment for current and past members of the armed forces. Many of our Legionaries are prior service and enjoy being around other Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines. Our founder served seven years in the U.S. Army as a 19D Cavalry Scout. We welcome and encourage fellow veterans to join!
